YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
WHAT TYPES OF PROBLEMS OR CONDITIONS COULD BENEFIT FROM THERAPY?
You don’t have to have a diagnosis to benefit from therapy.
Dr. Butler specializes in supporting children, adolescents, and younger adults through life’s challenges with compassion, curiosity, and understanding. Her approach centers on creating a safe, trusting relationship—because true healing begins when we feel seen, understood, and validated.
With children and adolescents, she specializes in helping them navigate depression, anxiety (including generalized, social, and academic anxiety), trauma, and acting-out behaviors. She has a particular passion for helping young people build healthy relationships and develop effective communication skills, both within their families and with peers.
With adults, her work often focuses on the complex emotional journey of coping with infertility. She offers a supportive space to process grief, uncertainty, and the impact infertility can have on identity, relationships, and hope for the future. She also specializes in navigating the challenges of parenting, both on the parent-child relationship and parent-parent relationship.
Across all her work, Dr. Butler believes that growth happens through connection. When clients experience a genuine, empathic relationship, they can begin to explore painful emotions, discover new perspectives, and move toward meaningful change.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS?
Psychological evaluations are a three-step process. First, you will meet with Dr. Butler for a clinical interview, during which she will collect a thorough history of the reason for the evaluation. The next stage is direct assessment of the individual, including the administration of psychological assessments and self- and parent-report measures. Testing sessions last between two to three hours and occur over the course of one to two days depending on a number of factors (including age, reason for evaluation, and speed of completion). Within three weeks of completed testing, you will meet with Dr. Butler for comprehensive feedback, including receiving the full report.

The cost of psychological evaluations varies and is dependent upon a number of factors (such as reason for testing, duration of direct assessment, review of collateral information, and other variables). Each evaluation is tailored to the client’s specific needs. With cost in mind, Dr. Butler does not administer unnecessary testing.
